DOUBLE JACKETS & TRIPLE DENIM…

I think it’s a continuation of the January blues but I’ve been feeling hugely uninspired about getting dressed lately. In my head I’ve already moved onto Spring but sadly the weather isn’t on the same time frame. It’s absolutely freezing in Zurich at the moment.

When I came across this look on the Sartorialist this morning I thought it was too good not to emulate. The only problem, though, is that when wearing a long sleeve shirt, thick knit, denim jacket and a coat you instantly start to look and feel like this (not familiar with A Christmas Story? See here.) It’s worth it though, despite being almost incapable of putting my arms down.

Wearing: J.Crew peacoat, Gap denim jacket, J.Crew chambray shirt, 7 for all Mankind jeans, Balenciaga boots, Laird & Co crushable fedora, Sambag tote, J.Crew fisherman sweater, Bottletop clutch and vintage earrings.

  1. Such a walkabout-city look, me actually love the hat addition, gives that extra zinggg.
That last shot might as well be London, come back!

  2. Lobe this look it’s great!! along with the nails too and the coffee is making me want to whip up my own!! xx

  3. Ooh like your nails! Lookin’ good as always Jenny :) xo

  4. Wow love the mani!! You really suit that hat and is your bag made from can tops how cool. Im having major blog envy of you slider mine just won’t work properly, the images wont fit right and its so slow, is yours a WordPress plug in?

  5. Darn your super leggy pins! I did something similar with the look you’ve emulated but with a leather jacket (and thank goodness I bought a chambray shirt from Uniqlo HK)….unfortunately due to the bulkiness of layering my arms didn’t fit through the jacket sleeves LOL.

    • Hahaha, OMG. That is too funny. That’s exactly the problem with layering jackets… luckily the peacoat has pretty roomy arms so was able to push my arms through. Still definitely feels a little snug though! xx

  6. i always think of ralphi’e little brother when i wear too many layers too! also, amazing mani and i love the fedora. i am obsessed with those hats lately but the nice ones are all so out of my price range..

  7. What a gorgeous look! The clutch, the bag and the hat! Thanks for visiting my blog! I have now a giveaway on my blog celebrating my 50 first followers. I wanted to let the people know who been to my blog few times a tip!

  8. You pull of triple denim so well!

I know what you mean about January being un-inspirational. It’s all I can do not to just wrap my duvet around myself and leave the house just like that.

  9. I really like this look. Ive tried it too but like you i cannot move my arms lol

I LOVE your boots. Been trying to find them but cannot find them anywhere. Do you know what Balenciaga boots they are or where i could find them?

    Thank you x

  10. Love the look. I’ve been having the same problem too. All I want is cute skinny jeans, a little top and some flip flops :) xx

  11. Stumbled upon your blog today, and really glad I did. It’s beautifully done! Bookmarking you now…

And the Simpsons illustrations made me chuckle, too. My parents wouldn’t let me watch the show as a kid, either, and now I’m addicted to adult cartoons. Family Guy is my fave.

  12. OK, for some reason, I can’t manually add your blog in my Google Reader or find it through the search button. Just thought you should know.

    • Hey Alicia! Thanks so much. There’s some kind of problem where my blog has been hacked (or something) by a weird Loans company… have no idea what the deal is but am trying to sort it out. So sorry about that! xx

      • I’ve been experiencing the same problem lately, when trying to visit your Blog….

The outfit you have put together is simply amazing! I know what you mean by “freezing” in Zürich. Here in St. Gallen is freezing too, it has even snowed! Too bad, because I can’t wear high-heeled shoes, like the unbelievably gorgeous balenciaga boots! I am always afraid of falling because of the slippery roads….
        However, great winter outfit inspiration!

  13. Why hello miss legs! :P
    Hehe.
I looooooove it when you wear that fedora!!! Where did you buy it, in England?

  14. That clutch is so unusual, it looks like it’s made of wires and it complements your knit so well! Oh gorgeous!

  15. I always go too streetstyle blogs for inspiration when I’m having one of those “i don’t have anything to wear” days (which is A LOT!) but never manage to recreate the look as good as you have Love your outfit, I especially love your chunky knit, looks so snuggly! XX

  16. Amazing layering. And those nails – I need to try!

    mwah

  32. I know what you mean. Last weekend it was almost spring 12 to 15°C, but this morning it was -10°C. and the report says it will go up to -20! So no spring time this week :( Usually it gets freazing here more in Feb than during Dec or Jan, and in mid March its Spring time, big time! crazy weather! I wanted to wear a pleated bright orange skirt to work today (a bit of colorblocking for the gray days) but its to damn cold outside :( At least your nails are bright :) Love the fedora!

  33. Loving this look – but know what you mean about feeling uninspired with this cold, gray weather. That’s an awesome hat & love the layers :)
