COMBATING THE JANUARY BLUES…
Seriously, what is it with January? I’m finding it to be the most difficult month to get through. It starts with a theatrical bang (champagne corks flying, fireworks exploding) but simmers stagnantly when resolutions prove more difficult to achieve than write and grand plans trickle out. There’s still two weeks left though, maybe it will pick itself up.
My wardrobe dreams have drifted to spring, pastel shades and bright acidic hues. The reality though is that my closet is filled with mostly blacks and greys. So I’ve brought in the big guns – the all powerful mood shifters: rainbow nails. Multi-coloured pastel nails seem the easiest way to nod to spring while staying frugal and bundled up. I also decided to pile on a selection of ridiculous things: two jackets, a leopard print clutch, studded heels and a headache inducing hat. But hey, it’s Sunday… so why not.
Wearing: WalMart hat, vintage earrings, Patouf jumper, LiLiFi clutch, Moda in Pelle shoes, Gap denim jacket, Quiksilver parka and trousers.

Jen, I love this outfit! Especially the shoes, they are amazing!! Hope you’re well!
Lottie xx
love the shoes, you know what, reading your blog helps me pass the january blues! I hate january so I’m looking for fun and beautiful photos/reading and your blog is on my list !
I have a major case of hat envy! It’s the perfect shade for a January pick-me-up. Great location for this shoot too, love the way you’ve laid the photos out x
Mine also started with a bang, our boiler blew up on NYD! Love the clutch and the shoes and the way the dress up your outfit perfectly xx Happy New Year honey xx
OMG those earrings looked already amazing in your previous post but with that look they look simply perfect!
I love this mixing the classic elegance of the earrings with a sporty and contemporary outfit, you manage contrast so well!
For me the endless month is March: it’s not so cold but not yet warm, you’re tired of your winter clothes but it’s not time for spring clothes yet, you’re far from the previous holidays (Christmas, usually) and from the next ones (Summer) so you’re super-tired… bleah! Let’s just hope to get to April quickly and painless ;D
kiss
Al
PS: you look amazing with orange! It’s a major trend next season but it’s not an easy color so you’re lucky! Another reason to look forward to spring and new season clothes I guess ;D
Love the shoes and the earrings. Just the thing to cheer up the January blues. The trouble with January is that it feels flat after the festive season. Work starts up again, the weather is still bad, we aren’t supposed to be eating our own weight in Quality Streets anymore. Boo hiss to January
Ohhh new years does a bring a great deal of pressure, doesn’t it? I am finding it difficult to stick to resolutions too but hey, every passing minute is a chance to turn it all around! Hope tomorrow is the start of a good week! AND I think I may have got the inspiration i was looking for re:what i should wear tomorrow! Denim and a parka works perfectly on you and I love the nail colours, makes me crave smarties-mmmmm
You look like you’re transitioning just fine! Love the bright orange beanie and an intro of your grandma’s earrings!!!
Lordy lord, those earrings are fantastic. Love the pops of color – I hate January, but this outfit makes me a little happier!

jan + feb – i hate them. why can’t we just go straight to march, or even better april. nothing’s happening in jan, but at the same time everyone seems to be sooooo busy, what makes me freak out – am I missing something here? thank god here in dubai it seems like jan is just another month. in germany i used to die every year in jan.
p.s. amazing outfit!
Ah, Jen, your eyes are so blue in the first photograph, it’s quite striking! So far I haven’t been struck with the January blues yet, but I’m sure it will hit after the lunar new year passes next week. In the meanwhile, I hope yours does pick up and ridiculous clothing selections are always welcome!
Wow, I love the second mixture of pictures (wall, wood, broken glass) – this is pure art!!
Love ur shoes! Worked in moda in pelle in London! I die for their shoes! Xoxo
I totally agree that Jan is the hardest month to get through. And simiarly…my closet is full of black and gray, I even went out to get a few colourful pieces to cheer things up! Love the orange hat and those heels!!
Your hat and shoes are the perfect top and tail to this outfit!
I love reading your blog. You are one of those few bloggers who are real (Walmart beanie? LOVE). You don’t just put on brands after brands like some others, and you stick to your personality when dressing up for us/yourself. It’s great!

Winter is always kind of gloomy for me. although it is sunny right now, the cold still reminds me of the season in question. Brightening my days with color is sometimes a hard quest since I have mostly blacks, grays and dark blues in my closet. but occasional pop of color hapens with accesories. I wish i wasn`t so lazy with painting nails in rainbow colors…
